Food Delivery Driver Arrested After Pointing Gun at Restaurant Patrons in Brookhaven

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A food delivery driver has been arrested after police say he pointed a firearm toward a restaurant filled with patrons, including a child, following a dispute over a delayed order.

On February 20, 2026, at approximately 7:22 p.m., officers with the Brookhaven Police Department responded to a report of an armed individual outside a restaurant (Ameer’s Mediterranean Grill) located at 2168 Briarcliff Road.

Investigators determined that Maze T. Coburn, 36, became upset over a delay with a food order and caused a disturbance inside the business. Police say Coburn left the restaurant but returned moments later to the parking lot armed with a handgun equipped with a green laser sight.

Coburn allegedly pointed the firearm toward the restaurant’s front window while customers, including a juvenile, were inside before fleeing the scene in a silver Ford Mustang.

Detectives later identified Coburn as the suspect and secured arrest warrants. On February 24, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Coburn was located and taken into custody with assistance from Gwinnett County Police near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Interstate 285.

He is charged with:

  • Multiple counts of Aggravated Assault
  • Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree

“Pointing a firearm at a business where families are present is reckless and unacceptable,” said Police Chief Brandon Gurley. “We will continue to act swiftly to protect our community and hold offenders accountable.”

The Brookhaven Police Department emphasized that incidents involving firearms are treated with urgency.

“We understand that situations involving firearms are concerning, especially when families and children are present,” the department said in a statement. “Reckless behavior involving firearms will not be tolerated.
