Two Monroe Men Charged with Felony Murder in January Shooting Death

MONROE, Georgia – A major development has emerged in the investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred January 25, 2026, on GW Carver Drive in Monroe.

Following a comprehensive investigation, detectives with the Monroe Police Department determined that the death of Teonia Stokes resulted from the actions of two Monroe residents, Dorreous Brooks and Curdarious Williams.

Williams, who was initially shot and transported to a local hospital on the night of the incident, has since been released from medical care and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, Brooks has been charged with felony murder, feticide, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and reckless conduct.

Williams is charged with felony murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, and feticide.

The Monroe Police Department says it remains committed to conducting thorough investigations and ensuring accountability in all violent crime cases within the community.
