Four Arrested in Connection to New Year’s Day Shooting Outside Covington Circle K
COVINGTON, Georgia – On Feb. 19, 2026, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division announced four arrests in connection with an aggravated assault that took place outside the Circle K on Salem Road in Covington.
The incident occurred on Jan. 1, 2026, and involved two groups of individuals gathered outside the convenience store. A preliminary investigation determined that one group began shooting at the other. Following the exchange of gunfire, all individuals fled the scene.
No injuries were reported; however, investigators identified damage to a nearby fuel truck as a result of the shooting.
Authorities arrested the following individuals in connection with the incident:
- Cameron Little, 21, of Covington, GA, arrested Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes, unauthorized discharge of a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway, reckless conduct, first-degree criminal damage to property and false statements.
- Cameron Hill, 17, of Conyers, arrested Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with first-degree criminal damage to property, possession of a pistol or revolver by a person under 18 years of age (first offense), reckless conduct, giving a false name, address or birthdate to a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes and unauthorized discharge of a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway.
- Earon Little, 19, of Covington, arrested Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with false statements.
- Corde Marks, 18, of Covington, arrested Feb. 13, 2026, and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain crimes, unauthorized discharge of a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway and reckless conduct.
Sheriff Ezell Brown expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Newton County School System, including its police force, staff and administration, during the ongoing investigation. He also recognized the continued dedication of investigators assigned to the case.
As of Feb. 19, the investigation remains active, and additional arrests are pending.
