Albany Police Seek Teen Accused of Shooting Man During Family Dispute
Wanted: Davaion Leroy

ALBANY, Ga. — Albany police are searching for a 19-year-old man accused of shooting his sister’s boyfriend during a family dispute Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Nottingham Way on February 18, 2026, where they learned that 31-year-old Christopher Rapley had been shot. Police say the suspect, identified as Davaion Leroy, is the brother of Rapley’s girlfriend.

Investigators determined Leroy traveled from Warner Robins to Albany earlier that morning with 44-year-old Michael Gray. Shortly after arriving, Leroy went to his sister’s residence, where a family altercation broke out. During the dispute, police say Leroy fired one round, striking Rapley.

Rapley was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

Authorities say after the shooting, Gray, who reportedly witnessed the incident, drove Leroy away from the scene. Gray then attempted to return to Warner Robins, but his vehicle was located and stopped by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office. The three occupants were transported back to Albany for questioning.

Gray was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension or Punishment of a Criminal.

Leroy now faces active warrants for Aggravated Assault (Firearm), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about Leroy’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Albany Police Department at 229-302-0756, through the department’s mobile app, by calling 229-436-TIPS, or dialing 911.
