Clayton County Man Sentenced to Life in Stabbing Death of Friend

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County jury has found Hiram C. Aaron guilty of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony in the stabbing death of his friend.

The conviction was announced by the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors presented evidence showing that on July 3, 2025, officers with the Clayton County Police Department responded to a residence after Aaron called 911 and reported he had stabbed Ronnie Wideman II with a kitchen knife.

According to testimony, Aaron told dispatchers he stabbed Wideman in his bedroom after claiming the victim was “hitting on him” or “picking on him.” Aaron said he had been struck multiple times before stabbing Wideman in the chest. The wound punctured Wideman’s internal organs and led to his death.

Aaron maintained he acted in self-defense. However, prosecutors presented evidence that the bedroom showed no visible signs of a struggle. Multiple other residents were inside the home at the time and reported hearing no altercation.

The trial began February 9, 2026, and concluded February 12, 2026. Senior Judge Jeronda Carter sentenced Aaron to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus an additional consecutive five-year sentence.

District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley said the conviction holds the defendant accountable and expressed hope that the outcome provides some measure of comfort to the victim’s family.
