On February 9, 2026, deputies with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 500 block of Chapman Road in northeast Macon following a report of a person shot. When deputies arrived, they located the victim, later identified as the suspect’s nephew, suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot.

Investigators learned that the suspect, James Boyd Parks, had left the scene and returned to his residence on Graham Road. Captain Douglas, Lieutenant Gleaton, and Deputy Montford responded to that location, where Parks was taken into custody without incident.
