Atlanta Man Arrested After Gunfire Incident at Lavonia Apartment Complex
LAVONIA, GEORGIA — A 23-year-old Atlanta man has been arrested following a gunfire incident Monday evening at an apartment complex in Lavonia.
On February 16, 2026, at approximately 7:14 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired at Ridgewood Hill Apartments on Poole Street. When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.
Investigators determined the suspect fired a weapon into the air after causing damage to the exterior of a victim’s residence. No one was struck or injured during the incident.
The suspect was identified as Demetrius Green, 23, of Atlanta. Green later turned himself in at the Lavonia Police Department, where he was arrested without incident.
He is charged with Reckless Conduct, Criminal Trespass, Tampering with Evidence, Battery, and Obstruction.
Lavonia Police said this marks the second gunfire-related incident at Ridgewood Hill Apartments within the past month. An arrest was also made in the previous case. Officers have increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues.
The Lavonia Police Department stated it remains committed to addressing violent activity and ensuring the safety of the community.
