Armed Man Shot and Killed by Cobb County Officers After Late-Night Gunfire Call

COBB COUNTY, Georgia – Officers responding to reports of gunfire late Monday night shot and killed an armed man after he refused repeated commands to drop his weapon.

On February 16, 2026, at approximately 10:38 p.m., uniformed patrol officers began canvassing the Bradley Avenue area in Marietta, GA, after hearing multiple gunshots. Shortly after, the department’s 911 Call Center received a report from a nearby residence advising of an armed subject in the area.

When officers arrived, they encountered a man armed with a handgun. Authorities say officers issued multiple verbal commands instructing him to drop the weapon, but he did not comply.

Officers then discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. He was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident.

In accordance with standard protocol, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to conduct an independent investigation and has taken control of the case. Officials say all further inquiries should be directed to the GBI.
