Armed Domestic Dispute on I-20 Ends in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Georgia – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday afternoon in Douglas County at the request of the Villa Rica Police Department.
According to preliminary information, the incident happened around 2:25 p.m. on February 13, 2026. Authorities say 52-year-old Jorge Narvaez of Carrollton was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife and another individual. As the two attempted to leave in a vehicle, Narvaez allegedly followed them in a separate car.
Multiple 911 callers reported what appeared to be a road rage situation involving the two vehicles traveling eastbound on Interstate 20, just past the Post Road exit.
Officers located both vehicles after they stopped on the interstate. Investigators say Narvaez exited his vehicle holding a firearm and began walking toward his wife’s car and a responding officer.
Two Villa Rica Police officers then fired their weapons, striking Narvaez multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
Narvaez’s body will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur for an autopsy.
The GBI is conducting an independent investigation. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for review.
