Two Charged After Accidental Shooting During DoorDash Delivery in Lilburn

LILBURN, Georgia – Two men are facing charges after an accidental shooting during a food delivery led to a firearm being discarded before the injured man was taken to the hospital.

On Thursday morning, February 12, 2026, at approximately 8:31 a.m., Snellville Police notified the Lilburn Police Department that a gunshot victim had arrived at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center and that the shooting may have occurred in Lilburn.

Lilburn officers responded to the hospital and located two men who had transported the victim for medical treatment. The pair initially told officers they were making a DoorDash delivery on Nantucket Drive when they saw the injured man walking in the roadway and decided to take him to the hospital.

However, during separate interviews with Lilburn detectives, the two men gave inconsistent accounts. Detectives detained them and transported them to Lilburn Police Headquarters for further questioning.

During more in-depth interviews, both men admitted that all three individuals had been en route to a residence on Nantucket Drive to deliver food, with one serving as the authorized DoorDash driver. They stated the victim pulled out a pistol and began “playing around with it,” which led to an accidental discharge that struck him in the leg.

The men also admitted they panicked because one of them was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. They said they stopped on Ronald Reagan Parkway and threw the weapon down an embankment before arriving at the hospital.

A Lilburn Police K-9 unit searched the area where the firearm was reportedly discarded. The K-9 located the weapon, which has been secured as evidence. Investigators later determined the shooting occurred between Rockbridge Road and Killian Hill Road. Authorities said the physical evidence is consistent with the statements provided.

Both men have been charged with obstruction and were booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
