Villa Rica Man Surrenders After Hours-Long Standoff Following Domestic Incident

VILLA RICA, Georgia – A 38-year-old Villa Rica man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a handgun at his girlfriend in front of her children, leading to a standoff Tuesday night, police said.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Villa Rica police responded to a residence on Cypress Lane off Hickory Level Road for a reported domestic incident. Authorities said Soloman Villa allegedly pointed a handgun at his girlfriend following a verbal altercation.

The woman and her children were able to safely exit the home. Villa then barricaded himself inside the residence.

Patrol officers established a perimeter while the Villa Rica Police Department Special Response Team and members of the Carroll County SWAT team were called to assist. Nearby homes were evacuated as negotiators maintained intermittent phone contact with Villa in an effort to secure a peaceful surrender.

While officers were awaiting a signed search warrant to enter the home, Villa exited the residence unarmed and surrendered.

Villa was charged with one count of Aggravated Assault – Family Violence Act, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, two counts of Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree, one count of Criminal Trespass – Family Violence Act, and one count of Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers. He is being held at the Carroll County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be pending. Authorities said no injuries were reported during the incident.
