Flowery Branch Man Charged with Murder in Shooting Death of Brother

HALL COUNTY, Georgia – A Flowery Branch man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of his brother inside the home they shared with their parents.

Criminal investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office have charged 36-year-old Cristofer Daniel Arthurs with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of his brother, 30-year-old Matthew Clayton Arthurs.

Deputies were dispatched just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, to a residence in the 4800 block of Rose Heights Drive off Cash Road. The brothers’ father called 911 after discovering his younger son unresponsive on a sofa in the basement area of the home. Authorities determined the victim had been shot.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred late Monday night and that the victim later died from his injuries. His body has been transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.

A firearm was recovered at the scene. The motive remains under investigation.

The suspect remained at the residence when deputies arrived. He was transported to Hall County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in Gainesville for questioning and was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the death.
