10-Year-Old Shot in Glenrose Heights Area of Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA — A 10-year-old child is recovering after being shot early Sunday morning in southeast Atlanta.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded around 6:45 a.m. on February 8 to reports of shots fired at 160 Ruzelle Drive SE in the Glenrose Heights neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found the child suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and in critical condition. Officers immediately rendered aid and applied a chest seal before transporting the child in a patrol vehicle to Grady Hospital with assistance from Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. The child underwent surgery and is now listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigators believe the shooting was targeted and stemmed from an escalating dispute between two parties.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
