MACON, Georgia — A Bibb County jury has convicted a 43-year-old man of armed robbery and kidnapping in a 2022 attack that left a victim shot five times and abandoned along a roadside in broad daylight.

On February 4, 2026, jurors found Hdywandus Hdyminus Harden guilty of Armed Robbery and Kidnapping. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus an additional 10 years to be served consecutively.

The crime occurred on May 25, 2022, when Adrian Montez Howard drove to meet Harden near CSL Plasma on Mercer University Drive. Authorities said Harden’s brother is married to Howard’s sister. As Howard stopped his white SUV, an unidentified accomplice emerged from the woods, struck Howard with a firearm and forced him out of the vehicle. Harden and the accomplice then forced Howard into the backseat at gunpoint.

Harden drove away while the accomplice held the victim at gunpoint. During the drive, prosecutors said Harden demanded money and Howard’s Cash App card. After Howard complied, Harden transferred $400 from the victim’s account to his own.

As the SUV approached Thomaston Road, Howard jumped from the moving vehicle and attempted to flee. Prosecutors said Harden turned the vehicle around, chased Howard and shot him five times before fleeing with the accomplice in Howard’s SUV.

The accomplice has not been identified and remains at large.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kayla Callaway and Assistant Deputy Chief Jeremy B. Johnson.
