Body Believed to Be Missing Milton Man Recovered From Pond in Mayfield Park

MILTON, Georgia – Divers recovered a body from a pond in Mayfield Park on February 6 that is believed to be Nathan Smith, a 27-year-old Milton resident and DJ known professionally as DJ Young Slade, authorities said.

Milton Police officers began searching for Smith on the morning of February 3 after responding to a report of a missing adult in the area of Baldwin Drive. Officers determined that Smith had left his home under unusual circumstances and could not be located. The department launched an immediate search and coordinated with multiple partner agencies over the following several days.

After initial efforts did not locate Smith, search teams expanded their efforts to include a pond near his residence. At approximately 11:53 a.m. on February 6, divers with the Cherokee County Fire Department located and recovered a body from the water.

The identity of the individual is pending official confirmation by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators said there is no indication of foul play at this time. The Milton Police Department Criminal Investigations Division will continue to treat the case as an open and active investigation until the official cause and manner of death are determined and all leads are examined.

Police extended condolences to Smith’s family and asked the community and media to respect their request for privacy.
