Deputy Arrests Wanted Driver After Hit-and-Run on Mercer University Drive

MACON, Georgia – A Bibb County sheriff’s deputy arrested a wanted hit-and-run suspect over the weekend following a crash and brief pursuit in Macon, authorities said.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division Deputy John Kile made the arrest on Mercer University Drive after responding to a reported hit-and-run collision. Investigators said the driver of a Dodge rear-ended a Chevrolet that was stopped in a turn lane, then continued driving to a nearby apartment complex.

A report stated the driver of the Dodge showed multiple signs of impairment, including slurred speech, unsteady balance, difficulty following simple instructions, repetitive questioning, and confusion. Deputies also determined the suspect had an outstanding warrant.

The man was charged with driving under the influence, open container, and hit and run. He was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center for booking.

The incident remains documented as part of an ongoing case review by the sheriff’s office.
