Lumpkin County Detention Officer Fired After Domestic Dispute Arrest

DAHLONEGA, Georgia – A Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office detention officer was arrested and terminated from his position Monday following a domestic dispute at a Murrayville residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded on Feb. 2, 2026, to a home on Robinhood Drive in Murrayville, GA, after receiving a report of a domestic incident involving Sheriff’s Office employee Adrian Martinez Jr. and his significant other. Martinez had been employed as a detention officer with the agency since May 30, 2024.

Upon arrival, patrol deputies determined there was probable cause to arrest Martinez. He was charged with false imprisonment and simple battery, authorities said. The sheriff’s office stated that Martinez was immediately terminated from his employment following the arrest.

Martinez was booked into the Lumpkin County Detention Center and later released after posting bond.

The incident remains under the jurisdiction of local authorities.
