Armed Home Invasion Suspect Captured Minutes After Riverside Drive Robbery in Macon
MACON, Georgia – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division has arrested a Macon man following an armed home invasion that unfolded Thursday afternoon, January 29th, in the 3800 block of Riverside Drive.
The call came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at approximately 2:08 p.m. Deputies responded and made contact with the victim, who reported that he had just returned home from walking his dog when he was confronted inside his residence by an unknown male armed with a firearm.
According to investigators, the suspect threatened the victim and took multiple items from the home, including the victim’s cellphone, before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was not physically injured during the encounter.
A short time later, a Criminal Investigations Division investigator spotted a person matching the suspect’s description near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Northside Drive. Patrol and Civil Service deputies quickly converged on the area and safely apprehended the suspect without incident.
Deputies recovered the victim’s stolen property from the suspect and returned it to the victim. The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Ricardo Jamal Martin of Macon.
Martin was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and charged with Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, and False Imprisonment. He is currently being held without bond.
