Savannah Man Arrested on Elder Exploitation and Theft Charges in Evans County

SAVANNAH, Georgia – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested and charged a Savannah man following an investigation into the exploitation of an elderly person in Evans County.

Duane Ellington Nunnally, 51, of Savannah, was arrested on January 26, 2026, and charged with Exploitation of an Elderly Person, Filing False Documents, and Theft by Taking.

The investigation began on August 27, 2025, when Evans County Probate Judge Darin McCoy filed a report raising concerns about possible elder abuse. The Evans County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the GBI to investigate the allegations involving the financial exploitation of an elderly individual.

After several months of investigation, authorities identified Nunnally as the suspect, leading to his arrest. He was booked into the Tattnall County Jail.

Once the investigation is finalized, the case will be turned over to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
