Shooting in Monroe Leaves One Dead, One Injured; Victims Identified

MONROE, Ga. – The Monroe Police Department has identified the individuals involved in a shooting that left one woman dead and another person injured early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 2:30 a.m. on January 26 in the 100 block of GW Carver Drive. Upon arrival, police found an adult female who had been shot and was pronounced deceased at the scene. An adult male victim was also located with gunshot-related injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police identified the deceased as 22-year-old Teonia Stokes of Social Circle. The injured victim was identified as 25-year-old Curdarious Williams of Monroe.

Detectives say the investigation remains active and ongoing as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. No additional details about suspects or a possible motive have been released.
