Chatham County Police File Vehicular Homicide Charges in Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Teen

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. – The Chatham County Police Department has filed new charges in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 14-year-old riding an electric bike last month, according to a department press release issued Wednesday.

Police charged 32-year-old Miguel Reyes-Castro with felony first-degree vehicular homicide, felony hit-and-run, and driving without a license. The department also charged the registered owner of the vehicle, 29-year-old Olvin Antonio Ramos-Ramos, with felony party to a crime.

Both men were served with the warrants at the Chatham County Detention Center, where they have remained without bond since their arrest on December 29, 2025. At the time of that arrest, Reyes-Castro and Ramos-Ramos were charged with felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanor obstruction related to the same investigation.

The charges stem from a December 28, 2025, incident in which a 14-year-old was traveling on an electric bike near the intersection of Glade and Ferguson roads in Montgomery, GA, around 7 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that left the scene, police said. Officers recovered the vehicle involved within a few hours and began processing it for evidence.

The Chatham County Police Department said it remains the lead investigative agency in the case and cautioned that information from other sources may not be accurate as the investigation continues.
