Teen Found Dead at Atlanta Fire Station After Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Police Say
ATLANTA, GA – A 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead late Tuesday night after being brought to an Atlanta fire station with a gunshot wound, an incident investigators later determined was self-inflicted.
Officers responded around 10:50 p.m. on January 13, 2026, to Atlanta Fire Rescue Department Station 38, located at 2911 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, after reports of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 16-year-old male who was unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicated the shooting occurred earlier in the area of 1551 Ferno Drive NW. Investigators said the teen was transported by family members to the fire station in an effort to obtain emergency medical assistance.
Detectives with the homicide unit responded and conducted interviews with witnesses and family members. Following further investigation, authorities determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Police said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.
