Inmate Escapes From Work Detail, Dougherty County Deputies Launch Manhunt
DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA – The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an inmate who escaped from a work detail Tuesday morning, January 13th.
According to the sheriff’s office, inmate William “Billy” Hagan escaped at approximately 10:17 a.m. while assigned to an inmate work detail. A coordinated search is now underway with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies.
Hagan is currently serving a sentence related to a probation violation and has several pending charges, including four counts of trafficking in cocaine, four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, five counts involving Schedule II controlled substances, and two counts related to drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say Hagan is not considered dangerous at this time and there is no known threat to the public.
