Hartwell Man Arrested After Shooting Injures Teen at Royston Business
ROYSTON, Ga. – An 18-year-old man was injured in a shooting Monday night at a commercial location in Royston, and a suspect was quickly taken into custody, authorities said.
Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 8:32 p.m. on January 12, 2026, to reports of a shooting off Franklin Springs Street. Upon arrival, deputies located an 18-year-old male victim from Hartwell who had been shot.
Deputies rendered aid at the scene before the victim was transported for further medical treatment. His condition was not released.
Investigators identified the suspect as Suhail Mohamed, 21, of Hartwell. He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
Authorities said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing danger to the public. The investigation remains active, and officials noted that additional charges may be filed as the case develops.
