Two Former Towns County Sheriff’s Office Supervisors Arrested in Separate GBI Investigations
TOWNS COUNTY, Ga. – The Towns County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of two former employees following separate, unrelated investigations conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Former Patrol Sergeant Andrew Glass and former Major of Law Enforcement Operations Johnny McCoy were both arrested and charged by the GBI after independent investigations requested by judicial and law enforcement authorities.
According to officials, Andrew Glass was arrested after an investigation into missing firearms from the Towns County Sheriff’s Office inventory. On December 19, 2025, Sheriff Anthony Coleman requested that the GBI conduct an independent investigation after two agency-issued firearms were discovered missing. The investigation led to the recovery of one firearm and Glass’ arrest. He had been terminated from employment the week prior.
The GBI charged Glass with Theft by Conversion, Violation of Oath of Office, and False Statements. He is expected to be booked into the Towns County Detention Center.
In a separate and unrelated case, former Major Johnny McCoy was also arrested and terminated from his position at the time of his arrest. The GBI charged McCoy with Theft by Deception, Violation of Oath of Office, and three counts of False Statements and Writings.
That investigation began in July 2025, when Enotah Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Joy Parks requested the GBI investigate allegations of theft connected to the accountability court program. McCoy, a sworn law enforcement officer, had been hired as a surveillance officer for the program, where his duties included conducting home visits with participants. Investigators identified discrepancies during a review of those visits, which ultimately led to the charges.
McCoy will be booked into the Union County Detention Center.
Sheriff Coleman commended the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for its professionalism and thanked Towns County Sheriff’s Office investigators and staff for their cooperation during both investigations. He also acknowledged deputies and staff who have continued to serve the community with integrity.
Because the GBI is the charging agency in both cases, the Sheriff’s Office stated no further comment will be provided.
