Original Post:
MACON, GA – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle incident involving a semi commercial truck on the Interstate 75 northbound on-ramp at Eisenhower Parkway.
Deputies were notified at approximately 1:13 p.m. Wednesday after calls came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center reporting a traffic issue on the ramp.
According to investigators, the driver of a semi commercial vehicle was traveling along the I-75 northbound on-ramp when the truck entered a curve. While navigating the turn, part of an oversized load being transported on the flatbed shifted and partially slid off the trailer.
The driver immediately stopped the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported.
Traffic Impact
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division responded to secure the scene and conduct the investigation. As a result of the shifted load, the Interstate 75 northbound on-ramp at Eisenhower Parkway has been shut down while crews work to clear the roadway and ensure it is safe for travel.
Alternate Routes Requested
The Sheriff’s Office is asking motorists to avoid Interstate 75 North and Interstate 16 from Eisenhower Parkway until further notice. Drivers heading north are encouraged to use alternate on-ramps, including:
- Pio Nono Avenue
- Rocky Creek Road
- Mercer University Drive
Ongoing Investigation
Officials say an update will be released once the roadway has been fully cleared and reopened. Motorists are urged to use caution and avoid the area if possible until normal traffic flow resumes.
