Hephzibah 21-Year-Old Man Killed in Early Morning Shooting in Richmond County
RICHMOND COUNTY, GA – Richmond County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Monday morning on Hines Street.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Hines Street around 2:10 a.m. on January 5, 2026, after receiving reports of shots fired and a person struck. When officers arrived, they secured the scene and located a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Thaddeus Lamont Kirkland of Hephzibah, Georgia. Despite life-saving efforts, Kirkland succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:55 a.m. by Deputy Coroner John Rutland.
The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not released any additional details at this time. Kirkland’s family has been notified.
