Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Reversing Vehicle on Hartley Avenue in Macon
MACON, GA – A 45-year-old man was killed Saturday morning after being struck by a reversing vehicle at an intersection in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Hartley Avenue and Ridge Avenue at approximately 10:14 a.m. The call was received by the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center.
Investigators said a 2022 Mack Terrapro truck was backing up when it struck a male pedestrian who was behind the vehicle. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Chad Williams. Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
