Masked Scooter Theft and Drive-By Shooting Lead to Arrests of Armed Teens in Bibb County
MACON, GA – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit, with assistance from the Criminal Investigation Division Property Unit, has arrested three suspects, including two juveniles, in connection with a violent series of incidents involving an armed theft and a shooting that unfolded during the early morning hours of December 29, 2025.
Deputies were first called just before 5:00 a.m. to a residence in the 1300 block of Abilene Trail after two masked males were reported stealing motor scooters from a front porch. Investigators say the suspects pointed firearms toward the residence before fleeing the area on the stolen scooters.
Only moments later, a motorist reported a second, more dangerous encounter nearby. According to investigators, two masked male juveniles riding motor scooters fired shots at a vehicle on Greentree Parkway near Unaliyi Trail. The gunfire damaged the vehicle, but the driver was not injured.
The investigation led deputies to a residence on Edgewater Drive, where arrest and search warrants were executed on January 2, 2026. As deputies approached the home, two males fled from the back of the residence. One was quickly apprehended and identified as 17-year-old Brandon Marquez Mitchell of Macon, who was already wanted on an armed robbery charge. A second suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile, was located nearby in a wooded area and found in possession of a stolen firearm.
During the search, deputies also recovered one of the stolen scooters outside the residence, which was later returned to its owner. Investigators later identified a third suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile, as the second individual involved in the Abilene Trail theft and Greentree Parkway shooting.
Mitchell was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he is being held without bond on an armed robbery charge. The two juveniles were taken to the Macon Regional Youth Development Center and charged with aggravated assault, theft by taking, possession of stolen property, interference with government property, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information related to these incidents is encouraged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
