Savannah Man Arrested on Murder Charges in West Gwinnett Street Shooting
SAVANNAH, GA – Savannah police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred late last month on West Gwinnett Street.
According to the Savannah Police Department, John Coleman was taken into custody on Dec. 31 for his alleged role in a fatal shooting that happened on Dec. 28 in the 600 block of W. Gwinnett St.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 6:18 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult male victim outside a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately attempted life-saving measures, but the victim did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later identified Coleman as a suspect in the case. He is now facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
