A months-long investigation into a large-scale fentanyl distribution network has led to the seizure of more than $1 million worth of drugs and the arrest of 10 people across metro Atlanta, according to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, working alongside the FBI’s Atlanta and Cartersville offices, executed multiple search warrants throughout the region. The coordinated operation uncovered significant quantities of illegal drugs, firearms, and cash tied to an organization supplying narcotics to several North Georgia counties.

Authorities seized approximately 8.2 kilograms of fentanyl, smaller amounts of heroin and cocaine, more than 10,000 pills, 71 firearms, a live hand grenade, and about $250,000 in cash. Officials estimate the street value of the drugs to be well over $1 million, noting the amount of fentanyl alone was enough to potentially cause millions of fatal overdoses.

The investigation focused on a fentanyl distribution network operating in Paulding, Cobb, Douglas, Carroll, and Haralson counties. Ten individuals were arrested and charged in connection with the case.

Task Force Commander Daniel Nicholson praised the collaboration between agencies, saying the results highlight the impact of federal, state, and local law enforcement working together to combat drug trafficking and protect communities from dangerous substances.

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, managed by the GBI and based in Dallas, Georgia, serves Haralson, Polk, and Paulding counties. Officials encourage residents with information about drug activity in those areas to contact the task force at 770-646-9175 or submit tips anonymously through the Paulding Sheriff mobile app.
