Lavonia Man Injured in Apparent Self-Inflicted Shooting

LAVONIA, GA – The Lavonia Police Department is investigating a reported self-inflicted gunshot injury that occurred Thursday evening on Grogan Street.

Franklin County 911 received a call shortly after 5:25 p.m. on January 1, 2026, reporting a male with a gunshot wound at 730 Grogan Street. Officers and Franklin County EMS responded to the scene, where lifesaving measures were administered. The victim was airlifted to a medical facility for further treatment.

As part of standard procedure, the scene was treated as a potential crime scene until investigators could determine the circumstances. Following interviews and evidence review, the injury was determined to be self-inflicted. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
