Cuthbert Man Arrested for Felony Murder in Shooting Death of 23-Year-Old
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested Tyrone Smith Jr., 26, of Cuthbert, Georgia, charging him with Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder in connection to the death of Delquan Harris, 23, also of Cuthbert.
On Sunday, December 22, 2024, around 3:20 a.m., the Lumpkin Police Department requested the GBI’s assistance with a death investigation. Officers responded to a residence on Matilda Street in Lumpkin, Stewart County, where Harris was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. Smith, who was at the scene and in possession of a handgun, was taken into custody. Witnesses indicated that Smith had shot Harris.
Harris was transported to a hospital in Columbus, Georgia, where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation remains ongoing.
