Fatal Collision on I-16 West Claims Life of Treutlen County Man
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 16 West, near Exit 6, Ocmulgee East Boulevard.
At 1:49 a.m., the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received reports of the crash. Deputies found an unresponsive male inside a Ford F-150 pickup truck, which had been parked in the emergency lane.
According to investigators, a 22-year-old male from Senoia, Georgia, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado utility truck eastbound on I-16 West. He lost control of his vehicle, veered off the roadway, and struck the Ford F-150 from behind. The driver of the Ford F-150, 37-year-old John Patrick Pace of Soperton, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab.
