Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Prepares for 3.7 Million Holiday Travelers

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is gearing up for the busiest travel season of the year, with an expected 3.7 million passengers traveling through the airport from Friday, Dec. 20, through Sunday, Jan. 5. The peak day is anticipated to be Friday, Dec. 27, with 327,724 travelers.

Travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. For real-time updates, passengers can check atl.com for information on parking availability, security wait times, and dining options. ATL encourages passengers to follow ATLairport on social media and stay updated with their airline’s platforms for flight-specific information.

With parking lots expected to reach capacity, ATL recommends making reservations for parking in the West Deck, Select parking lot, or International Terminal decks through atl.com. Public transit options, including MARTA, taxis, and rideshare services such as Uber, Lyft, and HERide, are also available.

In addition, ATL has introduced 18 real-time passenger information totems throughout the pre-security areas to display expected security wait times. Travelers are also encouraged to review TSA guidelines on prohibited items to avoid delays.

As a reminder, ATL advises guests to stay alert to suspicious activities and to report any concerns to 911. Green-coated guest service representatives are available to assist throughout the airport.
