Macon Man Arrested After Woman Critically Injured in Log Cabin Drive Shooting
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested Jahrius Isaiah Justus Whitehead, 32, of Macon, in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Log Cabin Drive on December 7, 2024, at approximately 12:59 p.m.
Deputies initially responded to reports of shots fired in the 3700 block of Log Cabin Drive near Pike Street. Samantha Jones, a 58-year-old woman, was transported to a medical facility in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound.
Video footage from the incident showed a black vehicle fleeing the scene. The Criminal Intelligence Unit later located the suspect vehicle, a Hyundai, in the Bloomfield area and then in the Shurling Drive area. When investigators attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop, initiating a brief pursuit during which items were thrown from the vehicle.
Investigators apprehended the driver and identified him as Whitehead. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large amount of marijuana. Whitehead was transported to Investigations Headquarters for questioning before being booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Whitehead has been charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with the shooting, and additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
