Towns County Traffic Stop Uncovers Meth, Fentanyl, and Cash; Two Arrested
The Towns County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men and seized a significant quantity of drugs, cash, and a vehicle following a traffic stop on Bugscuffle Road at Hwy. 76E on Wednesday, December 4.
After a week-long investigation, deputies stopped a vehicle and, based on probable cause, conducted a search. The search uncovered a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, opioids, fentanyl, and cash.
The following individuals were arrested and charged:
- Cody Michael Crane, 37, of Hiawassee
- Trafficking Methamphetamine (Felony)
- Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony)
- Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute (Felony)
- Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (Felony)
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Taillight/Tag Light Violation
- Charles Edwin Robinson, 62, of Hayesville, NC
- Trafficking Methamphetamine (Felony)
- Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony)
- Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute (Felony)
- Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (Felony)
- Tampering with Evidence (Felony)
- Failure to Appear (Felony)
- Fleeing and Eluding
Sheriff Ken Henderson praised the dedication of the investigators and deputies involved, stating that their work intercepted drugs destined for Towns and Clay County communities.
Crane, previously arrested on November 7, 2024, for Possession of Drug-Related Objects, was released on a $1,000 bond at that time. Robinson’s Failure to Appear charge stems from an August 2020 drug arrest.
Both men are currently being held without bond in the Towns County Detention Center.
