Man Arrested After Violently Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend at Savannah Area Dave & Busters
On Thursday, October 15, 2024, a disturbing incident unfolded at the Dave & Busters restaurant in the Tanger Outlet area in Pooler, GA. The incident was flagged down by a man outside the restaurant, who reported that a male, later identified as Curtis Petit, had assaulted a female employee inside. Upon arrival, officers were directed to the manager’s office, where they found a woman, later identified as the victim, with blood on her arms and face.
The victim, who had known Petit when she was in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend, explained that Petit had previously loaned her money, which she was unable to repay. Petit had reportedly sent threatening messages demanding repayment. Security footage from the scene showed Petit pushing the victim into a wall and then violently assaulting her, including choking her and striking her multiple times in the head and face.
After the assault, Petit fled the scene. The victim was examined by EMS but declined transport to a hospital, opting to visit urgent care instead. She expressed fear for her life during the attack, especially when Petit placed her in a chokehold.
Later, Petit turned himself in at the Pooler Police Department, admitting to the assault. He stated that his actions were driven by frustration over the victim’s failure to repay him and their strained communication. Petit was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. He was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center, where he was held on a $5,000 bond and scheduled for a court appearance on December 5, 2024.
