Driver Charged with DUI After Single-Vehicle Crash in Austell
In the early hours of Monday, November 25, 2024, Austell Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident near Pontiac Circle and Maxham Road.
According to the 911 caller, the vehicle had lost control, left the roadway, and the driver was seen walking away from the scene. Officers arrived shortly after the call and located the driver still on-site.
The investigation determined that the driver was traveling westbound on Maxham Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Further testing revealed the driver’s blood alcohol concentration (BrAC) was .151, nearly double the legal limit.
The driver, who sustained no injuries, was treated at a hospital before being booked into the Cobb County Jail. Charges include driving under the influence (DUI) and other related offenses. Fortunately, no other motorists were involved or injured in the incident.
