Norcross Man Arrested for Operating Chop Shop; Over $100,000 in Stolen Property Recovered
Gwinnett County Police have arrested 46-year-old Larry Dobbs of Norcross for operating a chop shop following a stolen vehicle investigation.
On November 26, officers from the West precinct responded to a stolen vehicle report. The owner of a stolen mini excavator reported tracking its location using a GPS device. Officers located the excavator at a residence on 846 Rockbridge Way in Norcross, where it was visible from the street.
Motor Vehicle Theft detectives obtained a search warrant for the property. The search uncovered over $100,000 in stolen items, including two excavators, a stolen SUV, three vehicles with altered VINs, two stolen motorcycles, a trailer, fentanyl, oxycodone, and a stolen handgun.
Dobbs was charged with multiple felonies, including operating a chop shop, theft by taking, felony theft by receiving, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing.
