Former Calhoun County Jailer Arrested on Multiple Sexual Assault Charges

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested Steven Williams, 60, a former jailer from Leary, Georgia, on charges stemming from allegations of custodial sexual assault.

Williams faces charges including Rape, two counts of Aggravated Sodomy, one count of Sexual Battery, four counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, and two counts of Improper Sexual Contact by Employee.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI investigate after receiving complaints on October 7, 2024, from inmates at the Calhoun County Jail. Following the investigation, warrants were secured, and Williams was taken into custody on November 15, 2024.

Williams is currently being held at the Mitchell County Jail.
