Man Fatally Shot at Reserve Apartments in Carrollton; Suspect Apprehended After Overnight Chase

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Mario David Lopez Gomez, 32 year old Hispanic male, from Snellville.

Two suspects are now in custody. They have been identified as: Markeese Jarvis Clark, 20 year old black male, from Marietta and Maurice Williams, 22 year old black male, from Marietta.

Both Clark and Williams are being charged with Murder and are being held at the Carroll County Jail.

The investigation at this time appears to point to a drug deal gone wrong.

On Sunday, November 11, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Carrollton Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Reserve Apartments, located at 912 Lovvorn Road. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. The victim was transported to Tanner Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During the response, officers attempted to stop a vehicle suspected to be involved, but the driver fled, leading police on a chase that ended near Tanner Medical Center. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Early this morning, the suspect was located and transported to Grady Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds sustained in the initial incident. Authorities confirmed that neither the victim nor the suspect are Carrollton residents.
