Fayette County Man Arrested After Road Rage Shooting Near Stanley Road

On November 4, 2024, around 7:20 p.m., Fayette County deputies responded to a reported shooting near Stanley Road and Westside Way. Fayetteville Police notified deputies of a gunshot victim attempting to drive himself to Piedmont Fayette Hospital. The victim claimed he was shot by another driver as he tried to enter his neighborhood.

Deputies located nine 9mm casings at the scene. The victim, who was transported to the hospital, told detectives he was driving home when a vehicle in front of him pulled over, and the driver opened fire. He reported not knowing the shooter, describing the incident as unprovoked.

Later that evening, Joshua Carbin, 25, of Fayetteville, turned himself in, stating he believed he had shot someone he thought was following him. Carbin was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office thanked Fayetteville Police and Fayette County Emergency Services for their assistance and urged drivers to exercise caution on the road.
