VIDEO: Trump leads Georgia polling average by less than 1%

(The Center Square) – As the last voters cast their votes in Georgia, former President Donald Trump leads the polling average by just 0.8%.

Even as the state had historic early voting turnout, both candidates continued to encourage voters to cast their ballots on Election Day.

Trump’s polling average in the battleground state has remained consistently within the margin of error since he first took the lead in early September. This is according to Project 538.

With its 16 electoral votes, the state will play a pivotal role in the presidential race.

According to data from the state’s Election Data Hub, 55.6% of all Georgia voters had already cast their ballots before Election Day even began.

Polls in the state will close at 7 p.m., with results expected to come in throughout the evening.

There are no state level executive offices on the ballot, nor U.S. Senate seats, and all 14 congressional seats are forecast to remain with current parties in a 9-5 edge to the Grand Old Party.
