High-Speed Chase In Atlanta Ends in Arrest at Shell Gas Station on Hill Street
On October 18, 2024, at approximately 9:26 p.m., officers with the Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit were conducting speed enforcement on I-20 Expressway when they observed a black Honda Civic speeding over 90 mph in a 60 mph zone. After confirming the vehicle’s speed, officers pursued the sedan as it continued to drive recklessly, making multiple erratic lane changes without signaling.
Due to the vehicle’s high speed and the driver’s erratic behavior, the Aviation Unit, known as Phoenix, joined the pursuit to track the vehicle from above. The Aviation Unit monitored the vehicle’s route to a Shell gas station at 387 Hill Street SE, where the driver eventually stopped and complied with officers’ commands to exit the car.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Quentin Jackson, was taken into custody without further incident. A subsequent investigation revealed Jackson was illegally in possession of a firearm. Jackson was charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, Too Fast for Conditions, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving While License Suspended, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was transported to Fulton County Jail for processing.
