DeKalb County Dog Shot and Killed in Disturbing Incident; Police Seek Public Assistance
On October 25, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., DeKalb County Police officers responded to a report involving a dog shooting. The incident occurred when a complainant, who was walking his dog without a leash, reported that his pet ran up to another person who was walking their dog on a leash.
According to the complainant, an unknown male then discharged his weapon at the complainant’s dog, resulting in the dog’s death. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
This remains the only reported incident of a dog shooting under investigation by the DeKalb County Police Department. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact them at 770-724-7477.
