Suspect Arrested in March Fatal Shooting on W. 61st Street in Savannah
Leearnell Williams, 34, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on March 9, 2024, in the 200 block of W. 61st Street. He faces charges of murder and aggravated assault.
Savannah Police Department (SPD) responded to the scene around 10 p.m. following a ShotSpotter report and found the victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The victim received immediate medical treatment and was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Savannah Police Chief Lenny B. Gunther commended the efforts of the officers and detectives involved in the case, stating, “I’m proud of the hard work our officers and detectives put into this case. I think it is a reminder to our communities that we will actively and aggressively pursue anyone who inflicts gun violence on our city.”
