GBI Investigates Inmate Death at Houston County Detention Center
At the request of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) are looking into the death of an inmate at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center in Perry, Georgia.
David Woodward, a 32-year-old resident of Perry, was booked into the facility at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. At around 1:00 p.m., Woodward collapsed in his cell, prompting deputies to administer medical aid. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted on Woodward at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office.
