Gwinnett County Police Investigate Murder After Man Shot Outside Gas Station

UPDATE: The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested Donte Dieal Newcomb-Donnelly (age 31, Norcross). Donte has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. The victim was identified as Anthony Bernard Miles (age 41).

The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a murder following a shooting incident that occurred in front of a gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Officers responded to the scene at 4169 Jimmy Carter Boulevard after receiving a 911 call reporting a man had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators arrived to interview witnesses and gather evidence. Currently, the motive for the shooting remains unknown. Preliminary information suggests the victim was approached by a male suspect in the parking lot before the shooting took place. After the incident, the suspect fled the scene. Officers established a perimeter in the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The police department has stated that additional details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
