Flock Camera Alert Leads to Felony Arrests for Stolen Vehicle in Reynolds

A Flock Safety Camera alert led to the arrest of two individuals for felony theft by receiving stolen property, as well as multiple other charges. On the afternoon of October 9, Officer Bell, Officer Joiner, and Assistant Chief Humphrey of the Reynolds Police Department were on patrol when they received a notification of a stolen vehicle entering the city.

The vehicle was located at a Fort Wayne gas station, where officers observed 43-year-old Julie Cavenaugh from Wallace, North Carolina, exiting the vehicle. The male driver, 52-year-old Gregory Cavenaugh, also from Wallace, was seen navigating through the parking lot. Both individuals were detained for questioning.

The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen from Duplin County, North Carolina. Julie and Gregory Cavenaugh were transported to the Taylor County jail, where they are currently being held as warrants are being obtained.

Gregory Cavenaugh faces the following charges:

  • Theft by receiving stolen property (felony)
  • Driving while license suspended (misdemeanor)
  • Defective windshield (misdemeanor)
  • Expired tag (misdemeanor)

Julie Cavenaugh is charged with:

  • Theft by receiving stolen property (felony)
  • Theft by receiving stolen property (misdemeanor)
  • Allowing an unlicensed driver to drive (misdemeanor)

The investigation is ongoing.
